Our Advice
- Amaryllis flowers love a sunny location but can tolerate some partial shade.
- Amaryllis bulbs and flowers enjoy having soil that is well-draining and has organic matter. Amend the soil you are planting in with organic material such as compost, manure or we suggest peat moss.
- The diameter of the pot should be about 1 inch wider than the widest part of the bulb and twice as tall as the bulb to allow space for good root development.
- Set the bulb in the pot so the roots rest on the potting soil. The bulb should sit up above the edge of the container.
- Water immediately after planting and let the water drain freely until the soil is moist.Â
