Peace lily houseplants are a common houseplant that creates beautiful white blooms when placed in high-light situations. It will tolerate low-light areas, but it will not bloom as much. The peace lily is a tropical plant so they love high-humidity and moist soil. Peace lilies are one of the most effective houseplants at filtering indoor pollutants from the air.
These beautiful flowering plants like bright light but no direct sun. Will tolerate low light but may not bloom.
Keep soil evenly moist for these plants. Use a pot with a drainage hole to prevent soggy soil, which can cause root rot.
Peace lily houseplants love a well-draining organic peat moss based potting mix. This will help the roots get all the nutrients it needs.Â
We suggest Fertilome Ultimate Potting Mix
Feed monthly in spring and summer with a balanced houseplant fertilizer that includes micro-nutrients, using half the recommended strength.
We suggest Bonide Liquid Plant Food
Houseplants like peace lilies like average warmth between 65-75°.
Peace lily plants require above-average humidity.
Like most houseplants, peace lily plants are mildly toxic if eaten. They may cause some discomfort and vomiting when eaten. Keep away from animals and children.
These beautiful houseplants are known for broad, dark green leaves and creating a beautiful white bloom above the foliage. Peace lilies look the best when grouped in clusters of three or more. We carry the peace lily in various sizes, starting at 4″ pots and going up from there. Peace lilies are also one of the most efficient houseplants at removing indoor pollutants, so they are great for the bedroom.
Domino Peace Lily is a variegated form of the more common peace lily. This tough and easy to grow plant has splashes of white on each leaf. Give this one bright, indirect light to maintain variegation. Excellent air-purifying plant.
Hydrangeas do well in partially shaded areas like under a large tree or on the side of a house. They like to receive sun in the morning, and the partial shade is in the heat of the afternoon. In Colorado, too much full sun will cause them to get sunburned.
Hydrangea shrubs need to have well-draining soils that is rich in organic matter. Most Colorado soils will benefit from the addition of peat moss and compost that helps retain moisture. The pH determines the colors of the blooms. Acidic soil will give you blue flowers, and alkaline soil gives you pink flowers. Â
If hydrangea shrubs are given too much high-nitrogen fertilizer, they may grow full and lush, but there will be fewer flowers. If the soil is rich, fertilizer is not needed. Otherwise, a light application in March or April may be warranted.
Make sure to water your hydrangea shrubs regularly. Those big blooms require a lot of water to stay lush and full. About one inch of water throughout the week is ideal. If they receive more sun give them at least two inches during the hotter summer days.
