Peace lily houseplants are common houseplant that you’ll find any from office buildings, restaurants, hotel lobbies and of course people’s homes. They create a magnificent white bloom when placed in ideal lighting conditions, such as a bright room. Grouping peace lilies together makes for a stunning display of dark green foliage contrasted against the bright white blooms. Peace lilies aren’t only beautiful plants to have around, but they are one of the most efficient houseplants at removing indoor pollutants.

Light

Peace lilies grow best in bright light areas of your home or office. However, be careful that the sun does not directly shine on the leaves because it can cause sunburn. Placing them in an east-facing window is ideal because it allows them the bright morning sun, which isn’t as intense as the mid-day sunlight.

Water and Soil

Watering peace lilies on a consistent schedule is the key to their survival. They like to have their soil consistently moist but not soaking. They can tolerate short periods of dry soil, but if you see brown tips, that indicates that your peace lily needs a more consistent watering schedule. Peace lilies are also quite sensitive to chemicals found in tap water, so using filtered water or leave water out for 24 hours to remove chemicals. As far as soil, make sure you plant peace lilies in well-draining organic material. This soil will help your peace lily receive all the nutrients it needs to grow big and strong!

Fertilizer

Peace lilies are not heavy feeders but still need a little extra food during the spring and summer months. Start by giving your peace lily a balanced fertilizer in late winter. That way, you’ll be giving it the energy it needs at the right moment.

Humidity

Peace lilies are indeed a tropical plant and enjoy higher humidity than everyday houseplants. Placing it in a bathroom or atop a tray of moistened gravel or pebbles can give this beauty all the moisture it needs. You can also periodically mist the leaves.

Pet Friendly

The peace lily, like most houseplants, are mildly toxic if eaten. That means it may cause some mild discomfort when eaten. Keep away from animals and children.
